I am going to get right into ACTION : DRINK UP ! Save your brain, protect your joints, flush out toxins, aid digestion and get ready to glow. You’ll see there is so much WHY! Below
Creative ways to Drink Water
- Pair with a Habit (Habit Stacking)
Pair drinking water with existing habits: drink a glass first thing in am, before the morning coffee or tea (dehydrators) Set a glass next to coffee maker, 8oz before you can savor your morning cup of Joe/ tea. Drink UP! It is sorta a mind game, your coffee / tea is the reward, and we all know even as adults we like to be rewarded. After about 30 days it will become your new norm! - Create Visual Cues
Place your water container on your desk that one is easy! But if you view it as a vase versus a source of energy, it will just sit. So, if seeing it is not enough, use a timer either download an app or simply use your I phone alarm. I am not a big App person, to me the alarm is the essence of simplicity. NEXT, place a bottle in your car in cup holder, you cannot return home from driving in your car without finishing another bottle of water that’s 10 oz., easy to consume. It would be funny if you could set the car door locks to not open till you drank your water, but that APP is not yet available. - Make It Fun Create a Water Drinking Game
Make hydration fun! Every time you check an email, get a phone call, or finish a task, take a sip of water. Turn it into a mini challenge! Make drinking water a fun experience by using a beautiful glass or a colorful water bottle you enjoy using. You can also try adding fruit or herbs (like lemon, mint, cucumber) to your water for a refreshing twist. I add lemon often. - Use a Water Bottle with Time Markers
Get a reusable water bottle that has time markers on it (e.g., “10 AM,” “Noon,” etc.) to keep track of your hydration goals throughout the day. This gives you a visual reminder and helps you stay on pace. Also, water bottles with beads, counters etc. - Challenge a friend Make it a fun challenge with a friend or coworker to see who can hit their water goals first. Accountability makes it easier and more fun!
Why You Should Drink Water

Water is vital to nearly every bodily function. Drinking enough of it keeps your body running smoothly, your mind sharp, and your energy levels high!
- Boosts Energy and Brain Function
Water helps your body produce energy and supports brain function. Staying hydrated improves focus, concentration, and mental clarity, keeping you alert and energized throughout the day. - Aids Digestion
Water is essential for digestion, helping break down food and absorb nutrients more efficiently. It also prevents constipation by keeping your digestive system smooth and regular. - Promotes Healthy Skin
Proper hydration keeps your skin hydrated, reduces dryness, and gives you a glowing complexion. It can also slow down the signs of aging, like wrinkles and fine lines. - Flushes Out Toxins
Drinking water helps your kidneys filter and flush out toxins from your body, preventing kidney stones and improving overall detoxification. - Regulates Body Temperature
Water plays a key role in regulating your body temperature, especially during exercise or hot weather. It helps you stay cool and prevents dehydration-related heat exhaustion. - Supports Weight Loss
Drinking water can boost your metabolism and help control hunger. Sometimes, your body mistakes thirst for hunger, so drinking water can curb unnecessary snacking. - Protects Joints and Muscles
Water acts as a lubricant for your joints and muscles, preventing cramps and keeping you flexible. Hydration is especially important during physical activity to avoid stiffness and discomfort. - Improves Mood and Reduces Fatigue
Even mild dehydration can affect your mood, causing irritability or anxiety. Staying hydrated boosts your mood, helps reduce stress, and combats fatigue. - Helps Prevent Headaches
Dehydration is a common cause of headaches and migraines. Drinking enough water throughout the day can help prevent these painful episodes. - Supports Heart and Circulatory Health
Proper hydration ensures your blood circulates efficiently, helping deliver oxygen and nutrients to your cells. It also helps maintain healthy blood pressure levels and supports heart health.
How Much Water Should You Drink?
Yes you can overdrink Water too! Follow the recommended guidelines
- The 8×8 Rule (8 Glasses a Day)
A common guideline is to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day, which equals about 2 liters or half a gallon. This is a simple rule to remember and works well for most people. - Based on Body Weight
A more personalized approach is to drink half your body weight in ounces of water daily. If you weigh 160 pounds, aim to drink 80 ounces of water per day - Activity Level and Climate
If you’re physically active or live in a hot climate, you’ll need more water to stay hydrated. Add an extra 1-2 cups (8-16 ounces) for every hour of physical activity or hot weather exposure. - Listen to Your Body
Pay attention to your thirst levels, as your body naturally signals when you need more water. Also, check the color of your urine—a light, pale yellow is a good sign of proper hydration. Darker urine could indicate you need to drink more. - Pregnant or Breastfeeding
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding need additional water. Experts recommend drinking 10 cups (80 ounces) per day during pregnancy and 13 cups (104 ounces) per day while breastfeeding.
Remember, other beverages and water-rich foods (like fruits and vegetables) also contribute to your daily hydration. So, while plain water is ideal, you can mix it up with herbal teas, sparkling water, or hydrating foods like cucumbers and watermelon.
