Spiritual Life

Living a spiritual life for me is essential for my well-being. While the definition of spirituality may be different amongst cultures, religions, and individual beliefs, the quest for connection to the divine or oneness with the universe always springs from within. Spirituality involves the recognition of a feeling, sense, or belief that there is something greater than oneself, something more to being human than sensory experience, and that the greater whole of which we are part is cosmic or divine in nature. I have incredible faith, believe in God and the beauty and comfort of prayer.

The spiritual path springs both from a daily routine that reaffirms our personal connection with a purpose or way of life. Practicing compassion, gratitude, appreciation, forgiveness, generosity, meditation and taking care of one’s well-being can all be part of one spiritual life. If you are new to exploring spirituality It does not matter where you find your spiritual path, we all we are all fundamentally spiritual beings and the essence of that lies in knowing one’s true self and finding a peace that comes from within rather than the outside world. It is in remembering this, that we awaken into our personal path. It also relates to the process of developing beliefs around the meaning of life and connection with others.

Spirituality is not measured by how much money you give to a church, or place of worship or being on a committee, or even attending services, it is living the life of spirituality. My spiritual life is practicing mindfulness, being present, being grateful, aligning and reinforcing my spiritual intentions with life purpose, forgiveness, embracing challenging times, learning to let go, not fearing the unknown, staying true to myself, staying active and healthy, spending time alone, and allowing my spirit to guide me. Your soul is what feeds your life’s purpose. If you are new to exploring spirituality, remember that this is a process, accepting the importance of spirituality can be a healthy decision because the spiritual practice tends to include habits that promote healthy living.

“The spiritual life does not remove us from the world but leads us deeper into it.”  ~ Henri J.M. Nouwen
